Covenants Committee

Members

The Island Creek Community Association's Covenants Committee is a group of homeowners who volunteer their time to assure adherence to the covenants established as part of the community bylaws. Covenants are conditions imposed by the original community developer limiting the use of residential property. These conditions become binding upon all subsequent owners. All Island Creek homeowners have entered into an agreement or covenant to maintain residential structures and initiate improvements in compliance with the mandates of the covenants as delineated in the architectural guidelines.

The Covenants Committee's purpose is not to arbitrate personal taste or "control" the community with unreasonably restrictive measures, but rather to ensure that Island Creek remains a desirable place to live. Achieving this goal helps keep property values at the highest level possible—the overriding goal among all homeowners in Island Creek. Maintaining property values is one of the reasons why homeowners move into a community with a homeowner's association in the first place. Although many factors contribute to property value, the maintenance of architectural and landscape harmony within a planned community such as ours is paramount to achieving the maximum value. With this in mind, the Covenants Committee sometimes must deny an individual homeowner's request if it detracts from this harmony. With this in mind, the Covenants Committee sometimes must deny an individual homeowner's request when it conflicts with the interests of the community at large.

If you have other questions or are interested in becoming a committee member, you are welcome to attend Covenants Committee meetings. Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the clubhouse.
