BRAC Presentation
The Annual Meeting of the Island Creek Community Association was held on September 18, 2007 at the Island Creek Elementary School. Donald Carr, Director of Public Affairs at Ft. Belvoir, addressed BRAC and the impact this will have on the Island Creek community. Click here to download his presentation.
"BRAC" stands for Base Realignment and Closure. It is the congressionally authorized process DoD uses to reorganize its base structure to more efficiently and effectively support our forces, increase operational readiness and facilitate new ways of doing business. In the case of Fort Belvoir, the Defense Department is realigning a number of agencies throughout the National Capital Region to Fort Belvoir. The intent is that Fort Belvoir is to become the major support installation for the nation's military leadership. |
